Welcome to my photography website.
I am a freelance nature and wildlife photographer, whose passion is photographing North America's and especially the Rocky Mountains' magnificent wildlife and natural features.
I was born and raised in the southern part of Germany. After studying at universities in Germany and the USA, I finished my formal education with a doctorate.
Visiting Western Canada and the Canadian Rockies in September 1983 for the first time, I fell in love with this place and later took permanent residency in the South Cariboo Region of British Columbia, Canada.
With nearly two decades working in the field as an adventure tourism guide/owner and naturalist, wildlife manager and as a BC Parks Ranger, I have gained an amazing understanding of the natural world.
When ever I have the opportunity I go out and photograph extensively wildlife and scenic beauties in the frontcountry and backcountry of British Columbia, the Yukon and Alberta.
I am not formally trained as a photographer, but rather have learned by trial and error as I've gone along. I have also been lucky enough to have met and forged friendships with some interesting people who helped me a lot on the way.
My hope is that sharing my photographs will inspire others to appreciate and respect natural life, to give you an idea for what the wilds of Canada are like. I wish that my images are creating in you a yearning desire to visit or re-visit stupendous areas like the Canadian Rockies and see them like you've never seen them before.
